Gulabin Lodge nestles beneath the mighty Ben Gulabin in the south of the Cairngorms National Park. The property offers stunning views of the glen and surrounding mountains. Our ultra-low carbon biomass boiler provides underfloor heating to both floors and ample hot water. Our shared shower and toilet facilities are bright, clean and well-maintained. Guests can choose to relax either in the cozy or the larger lounge. Both have stone walls, beamed ceilings and working fireplaces. Seasoned wood can be purchased on-site for those who would like to light a fire. Outside there is a raised terrace where guests can relax and enjoy a drink. The self-catering communal kitchen is a great space in which to create a hearty meal. The dining room offers comfortable seating and wonderful views of Gulabin's grounds with the hills beyond. Please bring all your food and provisions with you. The nearest shops are 30 minutes' drive from us. Guests coming from the south tend to stop off in Blairgowrie (large Tesco), while those coming from the north use the the Co-op stores in Ballater or Braemar. We keep a small range of home-cooked frozen meals for sale, but these are subject to availability, so please contact us for more information. There is plenty of excellent walking on our doorstep, ranging from near-flat circuits in the beautiful surroundings of the glen through to steep climbs that afford grand views into the high mountains. We are on the Cateran Trail, a 52-mile circular walk and we welcome overnight stayers who are completing the hike. Glenshee Ski Center is just a 10-minute drive and offers ski equipment hire. The Glenshee Ski School offers lessons for the beginner and the more experienced skier. In summer, the Glenshee chairlift offers visitors the chance to experience the high mountains without all the hard work.
