The guesthouse is housed in the total renovated stay which once served as a cowshed and later as a workshop for the Vilsteren installation company. With a bit of luck you will wake up in the morning by the birds and breakfast in the orchard with the hares and rabbits in sight.
Guest house "Op de Kuyerlatten", on the Kuyerhuislaan, is situated on the outskirts of Zwolle. The street owes its name to the watchtower that stood here in the Middle Ages. Also called Koeurhuis or Cuyrhuis. From the watchtower one had a good overview on the wide plains in the circumference, so that one could keep watch over the animals that were there.
De Kuyerhuislaan has a long history and has had several names. Van Kuijerhuisweg to Watersteeg in 1825 (after a flood) to Kuyerhuislaan in the mid-twentieth century.
The Berkum side of the Kuyerhuislaan now ends at the Nieuwe Vecht, a water dug in 1600 as a connection between the city of Zwolle and the Overijsselse Vecht. With the new Vecht it was intended to make Zwolle the main stack of peat. Due to the small depth of the new Vecht, this did not materialize.
At the Kuyerhuislaan a toll was levied from 1844 to 1941. It was then called the Watersteeg. The road was closed with a toll gate. A small toll had to be paid for farm wagons, covered wagons, carriages and cars. On the site of the tollhouse a new house was built in 1973: '' d Olde Tol '.
