Positive: The location is stunning. Exactly what we hoped for. Beautiful decking terrace with the river running right alongside. Apart from the regular visitors (the family of ducks and numerous small birds) we were lucky to see a heron who loitered for a good while catching his dinner. We were told otters, deer and pine martens make an appearance and can totally believe it as it’s so quiet and wild. Inside the lodge is possibly the best equipped holiday accommodation we’ve ever stayed at. All the extras we brought, corkscrew, dishwasher tablets, laundry pods, clingfilm, etc, etc, weren’t needed. Everything is good quality from the kettle and toaster to the hairdryers (two) mattresses and bed linen. Other thoughtful touches to name a few: a really nice bottle of red wine, a large box of chocolate biscuits, fresh fruit, flowers on the dining table, milk in the fridge and so on. You get the picture. The lady who owns the lodge is lovely, very helpful and accommodating and her dogs and cat are gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Negative: Nothing. We did suggest hooks on the back of bedroom and bathroom doors for robes but that’s scratching for something really.

Summary: Idyllic lodge on the river ideally placed for touring the Western Highlands.
