Its beautiful beaches are well-known in the region.
The city of Catania is 30 minutes away. It makes a fascinating day out. There are many historic sites from a Roman amphitheatre to the Norman cathedral and Baroque palaces. The city is also famous for its delicious food, with many local restaurants serving Sicilian specialities and wonderful seafood. Unique to Catania are the "cioscu", little kiosks all over the city serving refreshments in the hot summer months.
