Approximately a 20-minute drive south of Lugano, the town of Mendrisio lies a few kilometres from the Italian border. The property is a 15-minute walk (7 minutes by bus) from the train station, where connections to Lugano and Como can be found. The old town quarter is very appealing with its narrow lanes, old Palazzi, historic churches and the medieval tower at Piazza del Ponte. Another place of interest in Mendrisio is the local art museum situated in an old monastery.
A day trip on Lake Lugano (approximately a 20-minute drive), sailing between Switzerland and Italy is a must, as is an aperitivo in Lugano’s main square and historic centre, Piazza della Riforma.
